New ride cards replace bus tickets

Effective Thursday August 26, 2010 our new 4 and 5 ride cards will go on sale replacing all adult, senior, student, and child tickets.

Please continue to use your remaining old bus tickets before purchasing a new ride card. All bus tickets will no longer be accepted after NOVEMBER 30, 2010. Click here for sample and explanation on how to use your ride cards.

Your September monthly bus pass is the last month for monthly passes. A 31 day pass will replace all monthly passes. These passes are only sold at the Downtown Terminal. A 31 day pass will be valid for 31 consecutive days from the first day of activating your pass in the farebox.

Example: If you purchase your pass from the Downtown Terminal on on October 5, 2010 and did not board a bus until October 7, 2010. You would insert your pass into the farebox for the first time to be validated. The farebox will print the first use date of Oct 7, 2010 and will print a expired date of Nov 7, 2010 Click here for sample and explanation on how to use your 31 day pass.

Pen Centre to St. Catharines Museum

A new ROUTE 19 bus service begins Wednesday September 1, 2010. Travel from the Pen Centre to the St. Catharines Museum at Lock 3 on the Canal Parkway.

Service will operate Monday to Friday daytime only. Click here for the schedule.

Route will depart from Platform 4 at the Pen Centre, left on Glendale Avenue, left on Canal Parkway, right into the Museum, right on Canal Parkway, left on Wilfred Laurier back out, right on Canal Parkway, right on Rockwood Avenue, left on Woodrow, right on St. Augustine, left on Wembley, right on Glendale back to the Pen Centre.

New Farebox in bus. No pennies or park N bus tokens

Effective Saturday July 10, 2010 the NEW farebox in your bus will no longer accept pennies, park N bus tokens or american coins. If you have any questions please call 905-687-5555. For instructions on how to use your new farebox see notices posted around the Downtown Terminal or CLICK HERE.

GO Train Shuttle Service

St. Catharines Transit shuttle will meet the GO TRAIN. The GO train will arrive in St. Catharines from Toronto and return to Toronto every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Holidays until Sunday September 26, 2010. There will be one trip Friday evenings. 3 trips on Saturdays. 3 trips on Sundays and 3 trips on Holidays. Welland & Niagara Falls connections from Brock University & Niagara College Glendale Campus

St.Catharines Transit passengers wanting to go to Welland or Niagara Falls. Use a St.Catharines Transit bus pass, bus ticket or $2.50 cash fare and for an additional $1.50 in the St. Catharines Transit fare box you will get a transfer from the driver punched 7,8 which is then given to the next driver at the Brock University Hub or at Niagara College Glendale Campus. Return fares vary slightly depending on which city. For arrival / departure times and return fare information please refer to the Niagara Transit and Welland Transit website. NOTE: During the summer months when Brock and Niagara College are not in Fall/winter classes Niagara Transit does not have service to Niagara Falls from these 2 hubs.

If your route 16 inbound bus from the TOWER is passing you on Glenridge because of full capacity and you must wait for the next available bus. Keep in mind the route16 bus is starting to unload people at the bottom of Brock Hill and now has availability. You could take the route 15 West/Brock Commuter bus down the hill and get off before it turns onto Glendale and transfer back onto a #16 Brock bus now that the bus has started to empty along Glenridge.
